I miss live-journal

You know? live journal had it all. Face book has now replaced it and it sucks, it's so fucking superficial. All you get is nice pretty pictures of people. Pictures of them at their best having fun. On Live journal you got the truth, every now and then you would get a picture of how happy and joyous a time was but most of the time it was just entries on how empty you felt, or how shitty something was. Then people would comment and actually commiserate, share their own experience, everyone could be depressed together. Face book is just a bunch of superficial wall post like "i haven't seen you in two years, lets get coffee soon :)!", It's the popular kids all trying to one-up each other with their awesome photos or killer party invites meanwhile giving them a distraction to cheer them selves up when their school work starts getting to them... Face book blows.

Deceptively good albums

So after listening to this album which I thought had promise, it was not thrilling. I'm the type of person who listens to albums all the way through so after getting this one and listening to the first track I'm pretty hyped but then that subsided with every other track, disappointing. Who puts the one good track first. Hopefully this grows on me.

Ugg

Winter is coming.
Do you know what that means?
Uggs.

Ugghhhhh.

Yeah, Uggs probably keep your feet nice and toasty, but seriously. They're hideous. They make you look like you were bit by a rabbid squirrel and your feet swelled up. I can't say that I would ever want my feet looking like giant marshmallows.
Ugg sounds like something a caveman would say. How does that possibly help them sell their boots? Would you be compelled to buy something if you associated it with "primitive" humans? In our technological age, I don't think so.

So now that this is essentially my blog ... This summer I went to visit Kelly in chicago during lollapalloza as I'm sure you konw. We once went to this Jimmy Johns to eat and when we were there there was a girl with this bag that said "Jacobs by Marc Jacobs" .... Now i am thinking what is this Marc Jacobs started a new line? and how original when his old lines include Marc by Marc Jacobs ... but i continue to read the bag ... " For Marc by Marc Jacobs" ... What? ... "In collaboration with Marc Jacobs for Marc by Marc Jacobs" ... Ok so the bag is clearly a pun which started all these emotions in me. Damnit if i don't love Marc by Marc Jacobs. My favorite bag in high school was Rachel Hone's Marc bag but at the same time I love Wit and this bag has it. The fact that the line is named Marc is a good thing to ridicule. How ever will I ease my cognitive dissonance? After going online and doing some research this bag is actually made by Marc Jacobs. As me and Misha were discussing last night this is pure genius. Not only is it showing how clever and witty Marc Jacobs is but it is a crazy add. No matter how you look at it you will see Marc and Jacobs. The bag is also sold exclusively in the Marc Jacobs stores so you have to know what your doing to get one. Ahh, I can sleep soundly again.

For your viewing enjoyment (it's the first bag)

School.... friends.... life....

So, I've been having a minor philosophical crisis lately. I find that I am a very social person. I need social interactions all the time. Problem is at school I don't have that many people that I can interact with. I don't have the same massive contact list that I've developed in my home town. I meet a good amount of people but many of them were engineers that I didn't have much in common with. I still see some of them but I'm not terribly inclined to call them unless I'm desperate for social interaction. Quite frankly they're not high on my list of relationships to upkeep. I could meet new people possibly but I find it is easiest to meet people who are lame. This is a huge problem especially since there is such a huge percentage of lame people here. After being disappointed so many times last year I'm almost reluctant to meet new people in my classes and such. Although it is simpler to meet more people this way I find that it is too easy to develop a high level of involvement with someone you have no connection with. Have any of you had similar revelations?

Update

Val is out having fun in the wilderness, I hope. Have fun Val.

This weather is killing the summer mood. And I cant wear my CK loafers in the rain!

...and as the summers ending
the cold air will brush your hard heart away
you were so condescending
and this is all that's left
empty bottles, spent cigarettes
so pack a change of clothes 'cause it's time to move on.

Blogging

So on my way to work I end up driving about 10 min on the south field freeway. There is this piece of graffiti you can see when headed south I think its on the bridge for Joy rd. Anyways this graffiti says "wikipedia search ..." I'm never able to read what comes after that since I'm usually really tired and don't pay that much attention. What kind of thug decides to start a wikipedia article about, I don't no how awesome he is, or whatever and then spray paint it in Detroit?

The Ups and Downs of Push-Up Bras.
Why the iPhone is Amazing.

Welcome

Welcome to the new blog for coffee house discussions. The discussions that happen between three close friends locally in coffee shops. As college students from south eastern Michigan we talk about everything from fashion and television to politics and the economy (like apple stock). Yay.
